Company

The foundation of MOEWE Optical Solutions GmbH goes back to research of the junior research group
“Rapid Microtooling with laser-based processes” (2006–2011).

Group leader Robby Ebert had the idea of using new high-power single-mode fiber laser sources
for fast micro-processing on large areas. This required extremely high deflection speeds, achievable only
with polygon scanners.

Sascha Klötzer worked on the device control from the very beginning. Starting in 2013,
André Streek developed a novel concept with fully digital control and a unique optical solution
in the form of a double polygon.

By 2016, the research group agreed to pursue only this concept. At that time, the idea arose to establish a company,
as the first industrial demand for polygon scanner systems emerged.

After successfully finding an investor, MOEWE Optical Solutions GmbH was founded in 2018.
Located at the Laser Institute of Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, the company benefits from full access
to state-of-the-art laser technology. In cooperation with LIM GmbH, application studies can also be conducted for customers.

Through an exclusive purchase and license agreement with Mittweida University of Applied Sciences,
MOEWE Optical Solutions GmbH acquired the existing know-how and IP on polygon scanners,
including the unique double-reflection polygon mirror and digital control.

Already in 2019, the first pilot series of industrial-grade systems was realized, available for free demonstrations.
In early 2020, the first polygon scanners of the PM100 and PM300 types were delivered to customers.

Today, MOEWE is a young and dynamic international team with proven expertise in laser technology,
optics, mechanics, and digital electronics.
